Roof renovation
An old roof is not repaired at the last minute. Once water leaks into the roof structure, you pay twice. We handle reconstruction from condition assessment through the roof structure and layering to the final ridge tile, with one team and one contract.
When is it time for a roof renovation?
- The roofing is cracked, porous or crumbling; moss retains moisture and in winter splits the tiles.
- There are dark patches, mould or a damp smell after rain in the attic.
- A bent ridge or wavy surface indicates a settling roof truss.
- The flashing around the chimney and in the valley is rusted through, and the gutters are leaking.
- The roof is made of eternit: asbestos-containing roofing has long exceeded its service life and its removal must be carried out by a specialist company.
What a renovation entails
First, we remove the old roofing material and battens. Then we inspect the roof structure: sound rafters remain, while damaged or rotten parts are replaced, and wall plates are treated. Next comes the protective waterproofing membrane, counter-battens, battens, and new roofing. We carry out all metalwork (valleys, chimney flashing, bargeboards), gutters, snow guards, and roof penetrations as part of the same job, as these are the areas where leaks most commonly occur.
Insulation during renovation
An open roof offers the most cost-effective opportunity for insulation. Ridge beam insulation preserves visible beams in the attic, while between-rafter insulation is suitable when the attic is to be converted into living space. In 2026, interest-free loans are available from the Nová zelená úsporám programme (the state covers interest) for roof insulation; households with lower incomes qualify for a direct grant under the NZÚ Light scheme. Permits under the new Building Act
Replacing roof covering with the same type: usually without a permit or notification.
Different appearance (colour, roofing material type), heritage zone: Normally a formal notification, today handled via expedited procedure.
Work on the roof structure, changing the shape or pitch, new dormer windows: building permit.

What affects the price
Roof area and complexity (number of valleys, dormers, penetrations), scope of roof truss replacement, selected roofing material, insulation, building height and scaffolding access, disposal of old roofing (significantly more expensive for eternit). A detailed itemised quote is provided after inspection; no additional charges on site.

Questions we are asked
How long will I be without a roof?
Never. We open the roof in sections and cover it every evening with a tarp or already with new roofing material. A standard house renovation takes 2 to 4 weeks.
Does the roof structure also need replacing?
Not always. A sound roof structure is retained; only affected elements are replaced. An inspection from the attic decides this, where rafters and wall plates are tapped and moisture levels measured.
Can renovation be carried out in winter?
Roof covering replacement is possible if there is no frost or snow; carpentry work as well. Waterproofing coatings and bonded details require temperatures above 5 degrees. The best periods are from April to November.
